A good wine and even better Iberian ham were the hosts of the party that secpho set up for the Spanish photonics community as well as European partners visiting Munich these past days.
We exhibited at the international fair LASER World of Photonics 2019 in Munich, which takes place every 2 years and shows how the young and energetic photonics ecosystem, consisting of nonconfirmist companies, is reanimating the European scene. The joint booth of secpho shared the space with VLC Photonics, Jeanologia and the European Project EPRISE as exhibitors. Furthermore, other Spanish companies had their proper booth at the fair, such as Sensofar, monocrom, NIT, Aragon Photonics, Phase Photonics, Fyla and Inphotech. Of course, also the multinational companies such as Coherent, Trumpf, Laser 2000, Pro-Lite, AMS Technologies, PI Micos or Photon Lines exhibited with outstanding impressive booths and we are proud that their Spanish brands are members of our cluster.
On the other hand, the parallel congress was hold, at which more and more Spanish researchers gave a speech, followed by a huge international community, thanks to its’ high scientific level. It is a pleasure to mention that our colleague Álex Turpin also gave two conferences about the research of new LiDAR applications for the automobile industry.
Moreover, many Spanish researchers based in Germany or UK visited us at our stand, explaining us their view on coming back to Spain, as the prospects are getting better and better. It was definitely a fantastic week for the Spanish and European photonics industry rounding off the fair with a joyful get together of more than 100 people in hall B1 of the Messe München.
During the week many of our cluster members came and visited us at our joint booth, such as EXOM Engineering, Aimen, I3A, Inphotech, Ilice Photonics, Pro-lite, PI micos, tecnalia, Laser 2000, Aotech, recursos láser, CD6, Coherent, Tekniker, Iberoptics, Sensofar, Grupo Álava, ceit, Aragon Photonics, Phase photonics, ICMA, Procarelight and monocrom apart from the hosts VLC photonics y Jeanologia. In addition, external entities joined our party as well: CLPU, meetoptics, Deneb Medical, ase optics, INTA, Greenlight, FICMA, la UPM and lusospace and on an international level, partner organisations, such as OSA, Laser Zentrum, Optitec, Systematic, CPI or Technology Scotland.
All of them were received by secpho’s team Sergio, Álex and Sabine as hosts. Rosa, Carla, Gawel and Andrea had to stay in Barcelona working on different projects’ activities developed by the cluster over the past few months and preparing the English translation and printing of the new light! magazine about the future vehicle, that has been published recently in Spanish.
With an ambitious program like that, secpho continues proving itself as an ecosystem of reference in Europe thanks to its dynamics and strong opportunity-generating activity.
Munich has treated us well as usually, offering us for instance typical Bavarian beer and potatoe Knödel at the beautiful beergarden of Löwenbräukeller. Let’s start thinking about the next edition. Europe is having an eye on the Spanish photonics industry and we don’t stop to surprise it.
See you again in 2021! We would like to continue supporting the development of many more Spanish companies and putting them into the international orbit. Will you join us?
