DRONSTORE II
Autonomous indoor drone with 5G and advanced vision and artificial intelligence capabilities for logistics monitoring
DronStore is the name of this project that develops a navigation system responsible for localization, control and trajectory planning, allowing the drone to fly autonomously without the need of a pilot.
This is an innovative collaborative initiative involving 6 entities: Air Drone Logistics, Dronomy, Alter Technology, Stimulo, IOVI and secpho as coordinator. In addition, it has the collaboration of the PCAMI (Park and Center for Supply of Intendancy Material of the Army), one of the main logistic centers for the supply of materials in our country.
The initiative has received funding from the Ministry of Industry and Tourism corresponding to Next Generation EU funds, canalised through the support programme for Innovative Business Groups, whose objective is to digitalise industry.
The idea for the future is that drones will be able to perform all kinds of tasks such as checking high areas, locating items or other
With the consolidation of e-commerce channels, inventory management automation has become essential in the logistics sector. However, barriers such as legal restrictions, cost, limited autonomy of drones and technological shortcomings have limited their mass application.
DRONSTORE is positioned to overcome these limitations, focusing on the development of an autonomous navigation prototype that allows the monitoring of incidents in logistics warehouses, positioning the Spanish industry as a leader in this field.
The strategic collaboration with a leading logistics center in Villaverde (Madrid) strengthens the project, posing specific challenges related to safety, maintenance, temperature sensing and stock control in a warehouse specialized in clothing and equipment. The success of the project could positively influence the implementation of a drone fleet in a new logistics base in Cordoba.
The proposed navigation system will be responsible for localization, control and trajectory planning, allowing the drone to fly autonomously.

The first phase of DRONSTORE achieved a successful laboratory prototype with autonomous navigation and predefined defect analysis. The second phase has focused on moving towards 5G connectivity for real-time monitoring, generalization of artificial intelligence algorithms, implementation of an improved industrial design of the drone and development of a user interface.
All this developed by a consortium of several companies with specific roles. Dronomy, specialized in robotics, has led the project, company in charge of the development of the autonomous navigation system of the drone and the solutions for the cloud platform. IOVI, in Seville, contributes with artificial vision solutions and artificial intelligence algorithms. ALTER TECHNOLOGY, with more than 35 years of experience, is responsible for the study and analysis of regulations, as well as the execution of tests and Stimulo from Barcelona, leads the industrial design of the drone, addressing creative and technological challenges for a new type of drones. On the other hand, Air Drone Logistics, based in Madrid, brings its experience in drone inventories. All these companies are members of secpho, the Deep Tech cluster that coordinates this initiative. In this way, each partner brings unique skills, ensuring a successful execution of the project.
In conclusion, DRONSTORE emerges as a pioneering initiative that not only addresses the current needs of the logistics market, but also drives the Spanish industry towards the forefront of innovation in autonomous drones with 5G connectivity. With the backing of important partners and a comprehensive vision, this project promises to transform logistics management through the implementation of advanced and efficient solutions.
